Child Protection
and youth promotion

Mission

Acting for Life adheres to the principles of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our operational strategy hinges on the five priorities of the Declaration and Agenda for Action against commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), so far adopted by around 170 countries:

  • Prevention: Awareness-raising and mobilization campaigns for communities, families and authorities about their rights and responsibilities, promotion of mainstreaming in formal education (which is key to child development) and creation of economic alternatives that can prevent migration and child trafficking.
  • Protection : Training for all adults who have a role to play in this struggle, improving laws, providing emergency shelter for child victims.

  • Participation: Involving children in decision-making, improving their living conditions, defending their rights, promoting the notion of self-protection (enabling children to protect themselves and avoid risks even in the absence of adults) and providing training.
  • Rehabilitation and reintegration: Creating shelters for victims, providing education and vocational training, supporting social enterprises and income-generating activities; promoting community and family reintegration.
  • Co-operation and networking: Giving priority to multi-partner, regional (rather than national or single-partner) projects, working closely with local authorities, government, the private sector and all professionals concerned.
